JAPAN'S SAMBO CHAMPIONSHIP FOR THE PRESIDENT'S CUP OF RUSSIA HAS PASSED IN TOKYO

The Japan Sambo Championship for the Russian President's Cup Vladimir Putin was held in Tokyo last weekend.

"The significance of these competitions is great, as it is not only the Japanese Championship, but also the qualifying tournament for a whole series of international competitions, including the World Sambo Championship, the Asian Championship and the World Sambo Championship. The winners will have the opportunity to go to these competitions, "said Nobuyuki Asai, chairman of the executive committee of the Japan Sambo Championship, member of the International Sambo Federation, in an interview with RIA Novosti.
According to him, more than 100 athletes, men and women, took part in the tournament. Recall that the idea of Sambo competitions in Japan was born in 2010 at a meeting of Vladimir Putin, President of the International Sambo Federation Vasily Shestakov and famous judoist Yasuhiro Yamashita, who heads the non-profit organization Solidarity International Judo Training.
Asai said "The Japanese Sambo Championship is held for the 44th time and for the sixth time - for the Cup of the Russian President. We believe that it plays a very important role in the development of friendship and good-neighborly relations between our countries".
